ONECAST
Presentation Screen for ONEPHONE - User Manual
1. Overview
ONECAST is a presentation system for Second Life, designed to work exclusively with ONEPHONE 1 ULTRA. It lets you cast photo albums from your phone onto a physical projection screen rezzed in-world.
Perfect for:
- Meetings and business presentations
- Classroom lectures and training sessions
- Product showcases and store displays
- Art galleries and portfolio exhibitions
- Event slideshows and photo sharing
2. What's Included
Each ONECAST Screen package contains:
- A projection screen with a display face on the front and back.
- The ONECAST Screen script pre-installed - no additional setup required.
Note: You need an ONEPHONE 1 ULTRA HUD with the ONECAST app installed to control the screen. The screen does not function as a standalone device.
3. Setup & Pairing
Step 1: Prepare Your Gallery
Before using ONECAST, you need images to present. Open the Gallery app on your ONEPHONE:
- Upload the images you want to present (if not already in your gallery).
- Tap the Albums tab.
- Create a new album (e.g., “Product Launch” or “Team Meeting”).
- Add images to the album by tapping + Add inside the album.
Step 2: Install the ONECAST App
Open the App Store on your ONEPHONE and install the ONECAST app.
Step 3: Rezz the Screen
- Find the ONECAST Screen object in your Second Life inventory.
- Rezz it on the ground or any surface where you want to present.
- The screen will automatically register itself with the ONEPHONE server.
- You will see a confirmation message in local chat:
- “ONECAST Screen online”
- “Registered with ONEPHONE server.”
Step 4: Pair the Screen
- Open the ONECAST app on your ONEPHONE.
- Tap the discover icon (magnifying glass) to scan for available screens.
- Your screen should appear in the list, identified by its ID.
- Tap the screen to pair it. Once paired, you will see the screen's status on the main ONECAST view.
Tip: For the best presentation quality, use landscape images with a 3:2 aspect ratio (e.g., 2048 × 1370 or 1920 × 1280).
4. Presenting Slides
Once paired, select an album to start casting:
- Tap Select Album on the paired screen view.
- Choose an album from your list.
- The first image in the album will immediately appear on the in-world screen.
- Use the slide controls (see below) to navigate through your presentation.
Everyone near the screen in Second Life can see the slides - no special viewer or app required for the audience.
5. Slide Controls
- Previous (⏪): Go to the previous slide.
- Next (⏩): Go to the next slide.
- Play / Pause (▶): Toggle autoplay mode - slides advance automatically.
- Autoplay Speed: Choose the interval between slides: 3s, 5s, 10s, or 15s.
- Loop: When enabled, the slideshow restarts from the first slide after the last one.
- Slide Counter: Shows your current position (e.g., “3 / 7”).
The slide thumbnail strip at the bottom shows all images in the album. Tap any thumbnail to jump directly to that slide.
6. Managing Screens
Unpairing a Screen
Tap the red Unpair button on the paired screen view. The screen will stop displaying content and return to its idle state. The screen record is fully removed - you can re-pair it at any time from the Discover list.
Switching Albums
Tap the album name or the change button to select a different album at any time during your presentation.
Dismissing Stale Screens
If a screen appears in the Discover list but no longer exists in-world (e.g., it was deleted or the region restarted), tap the trash icon next to it to dismiss the record.
7. Screen Specifications
- Display Resolution: 2048 × 1370 pixels
- Aspect Ratio: Approximately 3:2 (landscape)
- Display Faces: Front (Face 0) and Back (Face 1) - both show the same image
- Refresh Rate: Slides update within 3 seconds of a change
- Full Bright: Screen is fully bright when active for clear visibility
Tip: For the best presentation quality, use landscape images with a 3:2 aspect ratio (e.g., 2048 × 1370, 1920 × 1280, or similar). Portrait images will display correctly but will have black bars on the sides.
8. Troubleshooting
Screen not appearing in Discover
- Check local chat for the registration confirmation messages. If you don't see them, the script may not have loaded.
- Wait a few seconds and try again - the Discover list refreshes automatically.
- Make sure the screen is owned by the same avatar as your ONEPHONE account.
- Try taking the screen back to inventory and rezzing it again.
Image not displaying or showing black
- Make sure you have selected an album and the album contains images.
- Check that the screen is paired (green status indicator).
- The screen refreshes every 3 seconds. Wait a moment for the image to appear.
- If the issue persists, unpair and re-pair the screen.
Image appears stretched or squished
- The screen displays at 2048 × 1370 pixels. Images with a different aspect ratio will be shown with
object-fit: contain - the image will fit within the screen area with black bars if needed.
- For best results, prepare your slides at a 3:2 landscape aspect ratio.
Screen shows stale/old image
- The display page refreshes every 3 seconds. If you just changed slides, wait a moment.
- If the screen is no longer paired, it may still show the last image until media is cleared.
Cannot control from web browser
- ONECAST is fully accessible from the web/PWA version with an active ONE Telecom Pro subscription.
- The screen itself always displays in-world regardless of how you control it.
